Merrimonth Berkley Specials! Feeling crafty? Choose from 3 types of easy to make and take ornaments. $5 each or two for $8.50. And, did you know that Articipate is always open on Saturdays and Sundays for a downtown art adventure?
Wednesday evenings, beginning January 9, 2019 from 6:00-8:00pm.
Join local artist Liz Frankland for a 5-week class on acrylic painting. Frankland, who is based in Berkley, is an award winning painter with a love of mid-century modern design, everyday spaces, and interiors filled with light and shadow.
Frankland will demonstrate how to create a scene that is loose but realistic in style, and how to find the point where detail can be expressed accurately yet abstract. Students are asked to bring 2-3 inspirational images to work from and will leave at the end of the class with their own painting. And don’t worry about a cluttered photo! Frankland will help students navigate what to highlight and minimize in the final work.
A materials list will be provided to registered students prior to class. Register on the calendar page.
Saturday, December 1, 1:30-4:00pm. A three hour pastel workshop in time for Christmas gift giving! And what’s more precious than an artistic portrait of man’s best friend? Pastel artist, Mary Jane Erard (see her paintings at Toledo Museum of Art) has years of teaching experience and will work with each student to make the pet portrait successful. Bring your favorite photo to trace. Class size limited to 12 people. $35.
