Art Class for Kids

June 24, 11:00am.  This book inspired an art class for kids.  It offers a great variety of media and cuteness. Of course, you can enhance your summer at home by buying the book and follow along.  But if you want a group setting without any fuss, bring your little ones, age 5 through 9 to Articipate.  Taught by Deb Kobayashi and helper. $90 per session. Mondays, 11:00am-12:30pm. There are two (each different) 5 week sessions:
  • Session one: June 24-July 22
  • Session two: July 29-August 26.

Figure Drawing: 5 weeks

Mondays, 6:00-9:00pm. Drawing the human figure has long been a staple for artists. With gesture and form drawings in this 5 week class, we will look at the structure of the head, two-dimensional shape relationships, and value. Experienced teacher and artist, Dan Keller has taught at WSU, CCS and the BBAC. All of the classes will utilize a live model throughout.  $165, includes cost of model. Specific dates are: 7/1, 7/8, 7/15, 7/29, and 8/5. (no class 7/22).

Drawing on Fundamentals

April 23, 4:00- 5:30pm. All beginners start at the same place, so we’ve opened this class to everyone age 16 to 96!  Learn simple techniques for drawing nearly anything imaginable! During the four weeks, we’ll focus on still life, portraiture, contour drawing and landscape. Enjoy this intuitive and expressive way of thinking. Develop your visual language. Tuesdays, April 23,30, May 7 and 14,  4:00pm-5:30pm. $90. A materials list will be furnished one week prior to class (less than $10.)  Taught by Terry Ford-Holcomb.

Water Color Class

Thursday, March 7, 7:00-9:00pm. Learn all the techniques that make watercolor its own special medium. Steve Gamburd has created a curriculum for practice and discovery during this 5 week class. $125 per person.   A materials list will be emailed to registered students.  Five students required to hold this class.

Acrylic Painting

January 9, 2019  6:00-8:00pm

Liz Frankland will demonstrate how to create a scene that is loose but realistic in style, and how to find the point where detail can be expressed accurately yet abstract. Students are asked to bring 2-3 inspirational images to work from and will leave at the end of the class with their own painting. And don’t worry about a cluttered photo! Frankland will help students navigate what to highlight and minimize in the final work. Wednesday evenings, five weeks.  Register  HERE. Intro to Art

You know you need art, but where do you start?  Here! at Intro to Painting & Drawing.  In 5 weeks, we’ll explore watercolor painting, acrylic painting, oil painting, plus a short drawing practice each week to develop skills and comfort. Tuesday evenings, 7:00-9:00pm, beginning January 8, 2019.  $119 materials included.

Acrylic Painting; 5 weeks

Join local artist Liz Frankland for a 5-week class on acrylic painting. Frankland, who is based in Berkley, is an award winning painter with a love of mid-century modern design, everyday spaces, and interiors filled with light and shadow.
