Introduce yourself to the many media for art making…before you go shopping for supplies! Learn the basics of value, composition, color theory and line while finding the value of self expression. You’ll learn by doing in a small (6) safe class.
April 24, 6:30-8:30pm Add some sparkle to your pots; who needs blooms? These garden stakes are fun to create. Their shape results in great designs. You’ll make two. $37; all materials provided. They will be ready for pick up in one week.
February 17, 7:00-9:00pm Art is all about exploration and taking chances outside of your comfort zone. This is a class where you can play with types of media. Low pressure, high pleasure. Class size is limited to 10 people.
Nov. 10, 1:30-3:30pm. Learn to make glorious painting with this unique medium; soft pastels. They are brilliantly saturated with colors, they allow sharp lines or smudged edges, they’re mistake forgiving and they don’t require brushes, solvents or canvases, so they’re travel compatible. Thursday Oct. 17, 7:00-9:00pm Experience the wonderful medium of watercolor! We will learn several painting techniques and apply them to various painting subjects each week. No prior experience is necessary, but all levels are welcome. Nancy Barick from Northville’s Art House will teach. Materials will be provided for the first class and we will discuss any additional materials needed at that time. $135
Tuesdays, July 2, 4:00- 5:30pm. See CONTEST for free drawing class! All beginners start at the same place, so we’ve opened this class to everyone age 16 to 96! Learn simple techniques for drawing nearly anything imaginable! During the four weeks, we’ll focus on still life, portraiture, contour drawing and landscape. Enjoy this intuitive and expressive way of thinking. Develop your visual language. Tuesdays, 4 weeks beginning July 2. $90. A materials list will be furnished one week prior to class (less than $10.) Mondays, 6:00-9:00pm. See CONTEST for free drawing class! Drawing the human figure has long been a staple for artists. With gesture and form drawings in this 5 week class, we will look at the structure of the head, two-dimensional shape relationships, and value. Experienced teacher and artist, Dan Keller has taught at WSU, CCS and the BBAC. All of the classes will utilize a live model throughout. $165, includes cost of model. Specific dates are: 7/1, 7/8, 7/15, 7/29, and 8/5. (no class 7/22).
Thursday, March 7, 7:00-9:00pm. Learn all the techniques that make watercolor its own special medium. Steve Gamburd has created a curriculum for practice and discovery during this 5 week class. $125 per person. A materials list will be emailed to registered students. Five students required to hold this class.
