Acrylic Painting Step by Step

October 28, 6:30-8:30pm   Liz Frankland, award winning artist, will demonstrate each week, the next steps toward developing a painting over 5 weeks.  All students will create their own version of the same composition which will be a figure in a room. It’s great learning technique. Registered students will receive a materials list. Due to social distancing requirements, this class is limited to 6 students and two classes are being offered, Mondays and Wednesdays.

Acrylic Painting Class

Wednesdays,  9/16-10/14, 6:30-8:30pm   For the beginner to advanced skill levels:Learn how to paint more loosely but accurately with confidence in this five-week painting class.  We will focus on painting a figure within an interior space inspired by the 1958 movie “Indiscreet” with Ingrid Bergman and Cary Grant.  Classic movies have a visual style that translates nicely into representational paintings in the tradition of Edward Hopper.

Liz Frankland will combine demonstrations, one on one instruction and positive encouragement. Fundamental skills about composition, color, value and brushwork will be demonstrated step by step each week until the painting is complete.  We will work from the same image and learn the process and problem-solving of creating a painting.

Watercolor Painting: 5 weeks

October 6, 7:00-8:30pm  Join us for a 5-week watercolor class that will on existing beginner experience in art, (watercolor experience not required) explore the breadth of what watercolor offers. We will explore all the basics, as well as more advanced skills (for students who are read) including washes, blocking, veiling, painting from observation, and more. A materials list will be sent to registered students.

Instructor, Elayna Alexandra has over 20 years of art experience, has shown in the Smithsonian and around the Nation exhibiting mixed media work. Watercolor is her favorite medium because of its versatility and forgiveness. “Art should be fun and is a lovely opportunity for heartfelt expression.”
