Mary Jane Erard is an award winning artist mostly in soft pastel. Her works are usually rural landscapes of the US and Europe. A juried member of the Pastel Society of America for over 20 years, Mary Jane has been represented by the Collector’s Corner of the Toledo Museum of Art. She teaches pastel painting courses in Ohio and Michigan (and at Articipate). She appears in the May 2019 of Southwest Art Magazine, Anniversary Issue. April 12, 7:00-9:00pm Art; where to start: Copying the masters is an age old practice to learn painting AND it’s a fun way to learn about color mixing and acrylic paints in our first class. In 5 weeks, we’ll explore watercolor painting, acrylic painting, oil painting, plus a short drawing practice each week to develop skills and comfort. Come and dip your brush into the world of art. Liz Frankland will demonstrate how to create a scene that is loose but realistic in style, and how to find the point where detail can be expressed accurately yet abstract. Students are asked to bring 2-3 inspirational images to work from and will leave at the end of the class with their own painting. And don’t worry about a cluttered photo! Frankland will help students navigate what to highlight and minimize in the final work. Wednesday evenings, five weeks. Register HERE.
