WORKSHOPS

PAINTING WITH PASTELS (soft chalks) Monthly, weekend
Mary Jane Erard, pastel artist and teacher, will conduct a 3 hour workshop in which you will learn how to use these soft chalks to create a landscape painting. Sanded pastel paper ($2) will be available at the class. All other supplies will be furnished. Saturday, April 13, 1:30-4:30pm.  Register  HERE . Five students are required to run this class. $36.

BONUS: Have you ever wanted to try OIL pastels? Occasionally, Mary Jane will give a mini introductory lesson prior to the soft pastel class.  $15. TBD.

SPRING TREE COLLAGE
The tree is a symbol for strength. Terry Ford-Holcomb offers this tree collage to help us focus on the beauty throughout the season. Think of spring buds and blooms. Join us in making this 10″ x 10″ canvas collage. SPRING March 29th. 6:30-8:30pm. $33, all materials included.  7 participants required.

ZENTANGLE, BEYOND BASICS
Various dates, 6:30pm-8:30pm. $26. Learn to make intricate patterns, one step at a time. Certified instructor, Pam Signorelli, teaches new tangles on imaginative projects.

LADIES ART NIGHTS
Occasional Mondays, 7:00pm-9:00pm. Jen Blake leads the way into fun crafts, several times per month. Check on facebook.com/articipateinberkley or HERE. $21-$36.  Materials included. BYOB.

GLASS FUSION FRIDAYS
One Friday each month, the glass workshop meets and make something wonderful.  The kiln fired pieces will be ready within four days.  $36. Taught by Pam Signorelli. March 22th  we’ll be making “kiln carved” tiles.

EVENING CLASSES

INTRO TO PAINTING AND DRAWING   
Low Pressure, High Pleasure:  Intro to Art begins again on Tuesday, April 9, 2019, 7:00pm-9:00pm. Try acrylic painting, watercolor painting, oil painting, 2 drawing sessions plus a short drawing practice each week to develop skills and comfort. 5 weeks, $123. Includes all materials. Class size limited to 10 students. Register HERE.

ACRYLIC PAINTING CLASS
Liz Frankland will demonstrate how to create a scene that is loose but realistic in style, and how to find the point where detail can be expressed accurately yet abstract. Students are asked to bring 2-3 inspirational images to work from and will leave at the end of the class with their own painting. And don’t worry about a cluttered photo! Frankland will help students navigate what to highlight and minimize in the final work. Wednesday evenings, beginning again on May 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 from 6:00-8:00pm.  Register  HERE. WATERCOLOR CLASS
Watercolor Magic is a 5 session introductory course for beginners to intermediate painters. It covers the fundamentals of the watercolor medium. Instructor Steve Gamburd uses simple subject matter to explore techniques in 5 classes: Wet On Dry, Monochrome and Value, Complimentary Colors, Wet On Wet and Saturation, and Creative Experimentation. Drawing and watercolor experience are not necessary, but plan on drawing and painting! Instructional handouts and some supplies are included.  Next class begins May 2nd. DAYTIME CLASSES

DRAWING CLASS FOR TEENS and OLDER
Learn simple techniques for drawing nearly anything imaginable!  During the four weeks, we’ll focus on still life, portraiture, contour drawing and landscape. Enjoy this intuitive and expressive way of thinking. Develop your visual language. Tuesdays, April 23,30, May 7, 14th. 4:00pm-5:30pm. $90. A modest materials list will be furnished. ART IN THE AFTERNOON
Feel like creating something new? Give us a call, then come in and experience one of these: print making, glass fusion, fabric collage, abstract painting, sculpture using paper, wood, wire, Notan paper craft, mandalas, origami, watercolor lesson, collage creation, build a mobile, mosaic magic… $25-35 per session.

MOM & ME TUESDAYS
Call us, then drop in with your child and paint together; Selfies? vacation memory?  Have a few laughs together.  We’ll give you each a frame for your art. $12 per person. Sometime between 12:00pm – 4:00pm

DRAWING ON DESIGN
In this drawing class you’ll learn to find shapes, map values AND create a pleasing composition by using principles of design. Dan Keller, instructor at WSU, CCS and BBAC, will teach at Articipate on Tuesday evenings for five weeks, beginning February 12, 6:00-8:30pm. $125. Register HERE.

DAYTIME DRAWING & DESIGN
Translating 3D objects into a still life drawing requires use of perspective and value.  But creating a satisfying drawing requires elements of design and composition.  Dan Keller returns to Articipate to teach this 5 week drawing class on Thursday afternoons, 12:30pm-2:30pm. Dan is an experienced teacher and artist who has taught at WSU, CCS and BBAC.  $120, includes materials. Class is limited to 10 students.

FIGURE DRAWING
Tuesdays, 6:00-9:00pm, beginning June 26th.  Drawing the human figure has long been a staple for artists. With gesture and form drawings in this 6 week class, we will also look at perspective, composition and value. Experienced teacher and artist, Dan Keller has taught at WSU, CCS and the BBAC. Five of the classes will have a live model.  $169, includes cost of model. Begins June 26.

PAPER MACHE´ CLASS
You will love the shapes and versatility of paper maché! It’s a satisfying process; the construction or molding of an armature, the draping and smoothing of paste soaked paper, then the decoration and painting of the hardened shell. Give it a try.  Five weeks, Wednesdays, all materials included, $115. Begins 7/11/18. 7:00-9:00pm. Class size limited to 8 people.
