EVENING CLASSES

INTRO TO ART   
Low Pressure, High Pleasure:  Intro to Art begins again on a Monday, Oct. 7,  7:00pm-9:00pm. Try acrylic painting, watercolor painting, oil painting, 2 drawing sessions plus a short drawing practice each week to develop skills and comfort. 5 weeks, $125. Includes all materials. Class size limited to 10 students.

ACRYLIC PAINTING CLASS, Urban Landscapes
Learn about Acrylics in this five week, step-by-step class with a focus on loose but accurate painting techniques. All experience levels are welcome! This class will cover the basics of composition, value, color and brushwork with a simplified palette.

Bring an original photo reference to work from of an urban environment. Anything that inspires you! It could be a building or a smaller city park, restaurant, historic building, or something from a vacation. Think about an interior or exterior scene with a composition that is asymmetrical and unique!

WATERCOLOR CLASS
Experience the wonderful medium of watercolor! We will learn several painting techniques and apply them to various painting subjects each week. No prior experience is necessary, but all levels are welcome. Nancy Barick from Northville’s Art House will teach.  Materials will be provided for the first class and we will discuss any additional materials needed at that time. Thursdays, 7:00-9:00pm beginning October 17; five weeks. $135. This class requires 5 students to run; 10 student maximum.

PAPER MACHE´ CLASS
You will love the shapes and versatility of paper maché! It’s a satisfying process; the construction or molding of an armature, the draping and smoothing of paste soaked paper, then the decoration and painting of the hardened shell. Give it a try.  Three sessions, every other Tuesday: Oct. 22, Nov 5 and Nov. 19. All materials included, $75. Begins 7:00-9:00pm. Class size limited to 8 people.

PASTEL PAINTING CLASS
Learn to make glorious painting with this unique medium; soft pastels. They are brilliantly saturated with colors, they allow sharp lines or smudged edges, they’re mistake forgiving and they don’t require brushes, solvents or canvases, so they’re travel compatible. Mary Jane Erard has been teaching workshops, monthly at Articipate for almost a year.  Now she’s offering a series of 5 classes, every other week, spread over 10 weeks. The dates and lessons are as follows: Oct. 15: basic composition and values, Oct. 29: mixing in other media,  Nov. 12: impressionist landscapes, Nov. 26: figures and portraits, Dec. 10: fauvist street scenes. Each of the lessons can be purchased alone for $32; please call first.

DRAWING CLASS 
Drawing 101; where it all begins. Tuesdays, 4 weeks for a lifetime of art adventures. Learn to identify shapes, direct the eye with a line and communicate with images on paper.  This class is for everyone who wants to learn drawing.  Those under the age of 10 years may come with a participating adult, attending with a 20% discount. WORKSHOPS

PAINTING WITH PASTELS (soft chalks) Monthly, weekend
Mary Jane Erard, pastel artist and teacher, will conduct a 3 hour workshop in which you will learn how to use these soft chalks to create a portrait of your pet or an animal. Sanded pastel paper $2, will be available at the class. All other supplies will be furnished. Next workshop is on September, 1:30-4:30pm.  Five students are required to run this class. $36.

BONUS: Have you ever wanted to try OIL pastels? Occasionally, Mary Jane will give a mini introductory lesson prior to the soft pastel class.  $15. TBD.

MIXED MEDIA MARATHON
Photos, paper layering and stenciling, embedded text, fabric, trinkets as symbols on canvas, gold foil, photos. Anything goes! $45, all materials included.  5 participants required. October 13, 1:00-5:00pm

ZENTANGLE ZONE
Various dates, 6:00pm-8:00pm. $30. Learn to make intricate patterns, one step at a time. Certified instructor, Pam Signorelli, teaches new tangles on imaginative projects.

LADIES ART NIGHTS
Various dates, 7:00pm-9:00pm. Jen Blake leads the way into fun crafts, several times per month. Check on facebook.com/articipateinberkley or HERE. $21-$36.  Materials included. BYOB.

MAKE & TAKE PROJECTS

ART IN THE AFTERNOON
Feel like creating something new? Give us a call, then come in and experience one of these: print making, glass fusion, fabric collage, abstract painting, sculpture using paper, wood, wire, Notan paper craft, mandalas, origami, watercolor lesson, collage creation, build a mobile, mosaic magic… $25-35 per session.

MOM & ME TUESDAYS
Call us, then drop in with your child and paint together; Selfies? vacation memory?  Have a few laughs together.  We’ll give you each a frame for your art. $12 per person. Sometime between 12:00pm – 4:00pm.

SOMETIMES,  SATURDAYS
Please call the studio, 248-812-9022 to check on the Saturday schedule. Sometimes, Saturdays are reserved for workshops and parties.

SUNDAY SPECIAL SPACE
Yes, we’re now open on Sundays! Studio time is yours! Bring your art project and materials (no toxic fumes) and share the space.  Refreshing!  Suggested donation, $5.

PRIVATE LESSONS

GLASS FUSION FRIDAYS
One Friday each month, the glass workshop meets and make something wonderful.  The kiln fired pieces will be ready within four days.  $36. Taught by Pam Signorelli.

DRAWING ON DESIGN
In this drawing class you’ll learn to find shapes, map values AND create a pleasing composition by using principles of design. Dan Keller, instructor at WSU, CCS and BBAC, will teach at Articipate on Tuesday evenings for five weeks, beginning February 12, 6:00-8:30pm. $125. Register HERE.

DAYTIME DRAWING & DESIGN
Translating 3D objects into a still life drawing requires use of perspective and value.  But creating a satisfying drawing requires elements of design and composition.  Dan Keller returns to Articipate to teach this 5 week drawing class on Thursday afternoons, 12:30pm-2:30pm. Dan is an experienced teacher and artist who has taught at WSU, CCS and BBAC.  $120, includes materials. Class is limited to 10 students.

FIGURE DRAWING
Tuesdays, 6:00-9:00pm, beginning June 26th.  Drawing the human figure has long been a staple for artists. With gesture and form drawings in this 6 week class, we will also look at perspective, composition and value. Experienced teacher and artist, Dan Keller has taught at WSU, CCS and the BBAC. Five of the classes will have a live model.  $169, includes cost of model. Begins June 26.
