EVENING CLASSES

INTRO TO ART   
Art is all about exploration and taking chances outside of your comfort zone.  This is a class where you can play with 5 types of media; acrylic, watercolor, oil and pastel paints and practice drawing basics.  Low pressure, high pleasure.  It’s a small class, limited to 10 people.  All the materials are supplied. $135.  Next class begins Monday, Feb. 17, 7:00-9:00pm. 

ACRYLIC PAINTING CLASS, Portraits
Portraits in Acrylic: 4 weeks.* The best way to improve is through practice! Liz Frankland will demonstrate multiple limited palettes in order to create a better understanding of the human form with greater accuracy and expression. This is an acrylic painting class but we will also do some charcoal drawing. Open to all levels. A materials list will be sent to registered students. Space is limited to 12. $115. WATERCOLOR CLASS
Looking for a watercolor teacher during these winter months. Call 248-812-9022 if you are an experienced teacher. Thursdays, 7:00-9:00pm. Five weeks. $135. This class requires 5 students to run; 12 student maximum.

PAPER MACHE´ CLASS
You will love the shapes and versatility of paper maché! It’s a satisfying process; the construction or molding of an armature, the draping and smoothing of paste soaked paper, then the decoration and painting of the hardened shell. Give it a try.  Three sessions, all materials included, $75. Time 7:00-9:00pm. Class size limited to 5 people. Call to sign up.

DRAWING CLASS 
Drawing; where it all begins.  Four weeks for a lifetime of art adventures. Learn to identify shapes, direct the eye with a line and communicate with images on paper.  This class is for everyone who wants to learn drawing.  Taught by Terry Ford Holcomb. Next class begins on March 5th; 4:00-5:30pm for teens and 6:30-8:00pm for adults. https://articipate.us/calendar/

WORKSHOPS

GLASS FUSION 
One evening each month, the glass workshop meets to make something wonderful.  The kiln fired pieces will be ready within one week.  $37. Taught by Deb Kobayashi & Pam Signorelli.

ACRYLIC PORTRAIT WORKSHOP: 5 hours*
We’ll start with a series of fun, gesture exercises as a warm up to get comfortable. Next, we’ll focus on portrait painting basics using photo references and a simplified palette. We will do several ala prima paintings, which are completed in one session. You will learn to see the planes of the face and study the values to create form. Liz Frankland, instructor, will demonstrate brushwork, color theory and composition with individualized attention. You can take this workshop alone for $60. This workshop is for all levels. Space is limited to 12 people. Pizza and snacks provided. Sunday, January 5, 11:am-4:00pm

PAINTING WITH PASTELS (soft chalks) Monthly, weekend
Learn to make glorious painting with this unique medium; soft pastels. They are brilliantly saturated with colors, they allow sharp lines or smudged edges, they’re mistake forgiving and they don’t require brushes, solvents or canvases, so they’re travel compatible. Mary Jane Erard is an excellent, experienced teacher.  Her next workshops are:  February 9: Pet Portraits,  Feb. 15: Paint Like VanGogh, which includes Mixed Media painting, March 21: for Cloudscapes in soft pastels or acrylic and oil pastel. Workshops are from 1:30pm-4:30pm. $36.

ZENTANGLE ZONE
Various dates, 6:00pm-8:00pm. $30. Learn to make intricate patterns, one step at a time. Certified instructor, Pam Signorelli, teaches new tangles on imaginative projects. Next class is Feb. TBA

LADIES ART NIGHTS
Various dates, 7:00pm-9:00pm. Jen Blake leads the way into fun crafts, several times per month. Check on facebook.com/articipateinberkley or HERE. $21-$39.  Materials included. BYOB. Next up is February 22; a daytime Ladies art night!

8 x8″ PROJECTS

ANYTIME, BUT CALL AHEAD
Daytime Art Adventures: We’ll set you up with an 8 x8″ canvas and all the supplies you need, including inspiring images. $20 per person. Small Canvases result in less pressure, time, expense, expectations, ego involvement…you’re free to try, experiment and enjoy. Sometime between 12:00pm – 4:00pm.

SUNDAY ART CLINIC
Want a mini lesson on your current art challenge?  Or, your child loves art, but can’t commit to a class?  Drop in for individual guidance. This is a shared space experience. 12:00- 4:30pm. $25.  

PRIVATE LESSONS

Want a more private place to explore your art quest? Call and arrange private lessons; one hour, $30;  1.5 hours $40. Deb Kobayashi, teacher.

*cancelation policy on all workshops (one session) and classes (multi-sessions): a refund will be offered if the cancelation is made at least 24 hours in advance of first (or only) class. The refund amount will be the cost of the class minus the PayPal fee.

DRAWING ON DESIGN
In this drawing class you’ll learn to find shapes, map values AND create a pleasing composition by using principles of design. Dan Keller, instructor at WSU, CCS and BBAC, will teach at Articipate on Tuesday evenings for five weeks, beginning February 12, 6:00-8:30pm. $125. Register HERE.

FIGURE DRAWING
Tuesdays, 6:00-9:00pm, beginning June 26th.  Drawing the human figure has long been a staple for artists. With gesture and form drawings in this 6 week class, we will also look at perspective, composition and value. Experienced teacher and artist, Dan Keller has taught at WSU, CCS and the BBAC. Five of the classes will have a live model.  $169, includes cost of model. Begins June 26.
